Troubleshooting: eBay Listing Errors

Common eBay listing errors in WMS360 and how to fix them.

Troubleshooting: eBay Listing Errors

Error: "Missing required item specifics"

Cause: eBay requires certain item specifics (e.g., Brand, Colour, Size) for the selected category. If these fields are empty, the listing will be rejected. Fix: Go to the Item Specifics section on the create product page and fill in all fields marked as required. Click Verify to check before publishing.

Error: "Category not found" or empty category

Cause: The listing profile doesn't have a category set, or the category ID is no longer valid on eBay. Fix: Edit the listing profile under eBay > Profiles and re-select the category. Save the profile and try listing again.

Error: "No variations found"

Cause: The product has no variations in the catalogue, but the profile is set to variable product type. Fix: Either add variations to the product in the catalogue, or create a new profile with product type set to "simple".

Error: "Image URL not accessible"

Cause: eBay cannot access the product image URLs. This can happen if images are stored on a private server or the CDN is down. Fix: Check that your product images are publicly accessible URLs. Re-upload images if needed.

Error: "Duplicate listing"

Cause: A listing for this product already exists on the selected eBay account. Fix: Check eBay > Active Products for an existing listing. If you want to update it, use the Edit and Revise flow instead of creating a new listing.

Listing verification passes but publish fails

Cause: Verify checks the listing structure but doesn't test all eBay API conditions. Some errors only appear during the actual publish call. Fix: Check the error message in the toast notification. Common causes: expired eBay token (re-authenticate), exceeded listing limit on eBay account, or payment policy issues.

Tip: Always click Verify first

Verify catches most issues before they hit eBay's API. Make it a habit to verify every listing before clicking Add Product.
